A Photographers Dream

I have only been up here in Alaska for a little over a week now, and I am literally in love with this place. I have been in training most days from early in the morning till late at night. So I haven't really had a chance to go out and take pictures, but the one day I got out to shoot on a clear day it was amazing. The mountains up here really are just amazing. I hope to get out more because from the few days I have been able to see the mountains they have been amazing.  But let me back track a little bit and let you know what happened when we first got here. SO me and alex left for alaska with no place to stay and no car, not even any leads on either of those, just a job and an airplane ticket. Our initial plan was hey lets sleep in the airport the night we get there and then call a million people about cars and places to stay in the morning! haha so on the flight up to anchorage, i was sitting next to a nice lady who i struck up a good conversation with, and we talked for nearly 5 hours or of the 7 hour flight! She asked about if we had places to stay or not, and i told her we didnt and that we really had no idea what we were doing, so she INSISTED because of her "Motherly instincts that were kicking in" that we should stay the night at her house so we didnt sleep in the airport. So we went to the Kupchins (thats their familes name) home and spent the night. The next day, Lorraine (the mom who i sat next to on the plane) asked us if we had any progress on finding a place to stay, we said no, and she told us that if we wanted to we could stay there till we found a place to stay. So another day later after our first day of training, she says to us, "Ya know what i was thinking? You guys came up here this summer to make money and pay for college and i feel like all the companies lour you up here to make money just to have it all thrown away in rent and living expenses. So i thought to myself, if they could only stay here, they wouldnt waste all that money, and they could spend some of it really seeing alaska in a way that they wouldnt be able to any other way!" So after thinking about it and me and Alex talking, we decided that we didnt have any bad feelings about it and that we would stay for the summer! This family is amazing. They have 4 kids a 9 year old girl, named maria, a 12 year old boy named Ben, a 18 year old named Emma, and a 21 year old named Jackie. We havent met the oldest two yet because they are still in college till mid June i think. But the family is great, so nice super generous and caring. Lorraine noticed that i was getting kind of sick the other day and from that point on she has made me take gummy vitamins every single day, some times twice a day! We really got so luck and are so blessed to have met her on the plane. She kept joking around and asking, Hey you guys arent serial killers are you? haha. She just said she had a good feeling about the whole situation and were very grateful she did! Ill post some other pictures of the train on here later, they are pretty sick and have some amazing scenery that they follow. But anyway. Its been amazing up here and ill try and post as much as i can!
This is Maria, the 9 Year old showing me her artwork she made today
This is Ben, the mellow quick witted 12 year old.
Our Alaskan mom, Lorraine who always seems to be in this mood, making us food! I feel bad because of how freaking kind and giving she is!
This is Cody their dog. He's 1.

Alex has become the official designated guacamole man, i think he's already made it as a snack for the family like 3 times at Lorraine's request.
Everyone pitching in for dinner, I just got a new lens so i was the photographer. Don't worry they gave me crap for not helping out.
Family dinner.

  1. Freaking the sweetest story I have heard since never ago. How cool is that!? You are blessed man Rickard (and Alex). Alaska sounds like a dream. I am super glad that you found a place to stay, doesn't surprise me, you are like the most loveable guy in America. Serious.
